The seaside town of Weymouth lies about 4 miles to the east of our Dorset holiday cottages. Blessed with one of the warmest and sunniest climates Weymouth offers something for everyone. The 3 mile long sandy beach is perfect for youngsters to play in the sand and enjoy the very calm, safe shallow sea. There are a huge amount of fun things to do to keep everyone occupied.
The Sea Life Centre is definitely worth a visit and next door you will find Go Karts and Cresta Run. The town centre has all the leading High Street shops such as Next, New Look, M&S and Debenhams plus Cineworld, PC World, MacDonalds and KFC!
The Condor Ferry can whisk you across the channel for a quick visit to Guernsey and Jersey.
For a quick history lesson visit Nothe Fort which dates back to 1872 and was built to protect Portland’s harbour which was becoming a prominent Royal Naval base.
If the weather is not quite so good you could visit Brewers Quay, formerly Devonish Brewery but now developed into an arts, crafts and antiques emporium with over 120 retailers. If you have youngsters they will love the traditional sea front amusements, fair ground rides and in the summer, ride a donkey! Weymouth is fantastic for all types of fishing from simply doing a bit of “crabbing” from the stone pier or mackerel fishing off the Chesil beach or going the full works and organising a deep sea fishing trip.
