Highly recommended, The Anchor at Seatown near Chideock, Dorset is an excellent pub to visit with lovely lunches and some of the finest views in Dorset from the top of Golden Cap – look back along the Jurassic Coastline all the way back to Portland.

If you fancy somewhere a bit different with fantastic views across Weymouth Bay towards Portland visit Billy Winters just past Ferry Bridge on the causeway over to Portland Bill. This is a rather rustic/retro/highly individual bar/diner which has been fashioned out of a pre-fab building with seating inside and outside on the pebbly beach. The food is excellent ranging from delicious meat dishes, a good vegetarian selection including vegetarian and beetroot burgers and pizzas straight from the wood fired oven.

Being so close to the sea it would be a shame to come down and stay in our holiday cottages and not find time to indulge in some excellent local sea food. We are rather spoilt for choice but one restuarant that definitely tops the list is the newly opened Club House at West Bexington, about a 10 mile drive from the cottages along the beautiful Coastal Road (B3175) towards Bridport. The Hive Beach Cafe is situated just to the south of Burton Bradstock and has magnificent views towards Lyme Bay. It prides itself on sourcing all of its food locally and is renown for its seafood. As the name implies it also functions as a cafe so you can call in for just a coffee and slice of cake. However my recommendation for the summer is to go there for breakfast! Just a short drive from the Cottages in our neighbouring village Portesham you will find the award winning and highly recommended Kings Arms Pub, close to the Jurassic Coast. The dinning theme reflects its location of “coast and country” with all ingredients being sourced as locally as possible including local farms and growers with all dishes cooked to order.
