Sadly, the village pub, The Elm Tree Inn, over 300 years old, closed in Dec 2023. In a village meeting in April 2024, the residents of Langton Herring decided to attempt to raise money and buy the Pub. A highly motivated and enthusiastic Steering Committee was established and began the process of raising the necessary funds. The Anchor Inn at Seatown with Stunning Views of Jurassic Coast.

Highly recommended, The Anchor at Seatown near Chideock, Dorset is an excellent pub to visit with lovely lunches and some of the finest views in Dorset from the top of Golden Cap – look back along the Jurassic Coastline all the way back to Portland.

Served from 1000am the breakfast typically is a choice

Just a short drive from the Cottages in our neighbouring village Portesham you will find the award winning and highly recommended Kings Arms Pub, close to the Jurassic Coast. The dinning theme reflects its location of “coast and country” with all ingredients being sourced as locally as possible including local farms and growers with all dishes cooked to order. Inside the pub has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and during winter it normally has a couple of log fires going. The
